Claims Processor (GAP / Total Loss Claims)
Role Summary
The Claims Processor is responsible for collecting, reviewing, and assembling total loss documentation to determine eligibility for GAP/waiver claim benefits. This role ensures claims are accurately reviewed, properly documented, and processed in accordance with applicable guidelines and timelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to all parties involved in the claims process to obtain required documentation and information.
- Review incoming claims and verify that all required documents are complete, accurate, and legible.
- Conduct initial analysis and investigation of claims to determine readiness for final approval.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all claim activity, including notes, correspondence, payments, and communications in the system.
- Prepare and submit complete claim packages to the appropriate review team for final disposition.
- Handle inbound calls in a call center environment regarding claim status, documentation requirements, and settlement explanations.
- Communicate regularly with dealers, lenders, policyholders, and other stakeholders to ensure timely updates and follow-ups.
- Perform follow-ups on open claims at required intervals to ensure timely resolution.
- Ensure compliance with internal procedures, state regulations, and processing guidelines.
- Maintain schedule adherence and meet productivity and quality standards.
Training
Comprehensive 4–6 week training program covering:
- GAP/waiver product knowledge
- Claims processing systems and procedures
- Documentation standards
- Call handling and customer service expectations
Qualifications & Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 3+ years of claims, insurance, or call center experience preferred
- Experience with GAP claims, auto finance, or property & casualty insurance strongly preferred
- Property & Casualty Adjuster License is a plus
