Medical Billing Manager (Temp-to-Perm) | New York, NY

A well-established nonprofit organization serving children and families throughout New York City is seeking a Medical Billing Manager to join its accounting team. This is a high-impact leadership opportunity for an experienced medical billing professional with strong Medicaid billing knowledge and supervisory experience.

Pay Rate: $35/hr - $40/hr

Salary: Up to $75k

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM (35-hour work week). Fully onsite during contract period; hybrid flexibility available upon permanent conversion

Position Overview

The Medical Billing Manager will oversee daily billing operations, supervise billing staff, and ensure the timely submission, reconciliation, and follow-up of Medicaid and third-party claims. This role plays a critical part in maximizing cash flow, reducing denials, and supporting the organization's financial health.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily billing operations and supervise billing staff
  • Ensure timely submission of Medicaid and third-party claims
  • Review, correct, and resubmit denied or rejected claims
  • Monitor unbilled services and billing productivity metrics
  • Prepare billing, collections, and reimbursement reports
  • Verify insurance coverage and maintain authorizations
  • Assist with payment posting and account reconciliation
  • Collaborate with leadership to identify and resolve billing issues
  • Maintain accurate billing and demographic records

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of medical billing experience
  • Strong knowledge of Medicaid billing
  • Experience with CPT, ICD-10, and HCFA 1500 claim forms
  • Prior supervisory or management experience
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
