Stand-Up Forklift Operator – Job Description

Position Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Stand-Up Forklift Operator to join our warehouse and distribution team in St. Louis, Missouri. This role is responsible for operating a stand-up forklift (reach truck or order picker) to move, load, unload, and organize materials within the warehouse. The ideal candidate has prior forklift experience, strong attention to safety, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Safely operate a stand-up forklift (reach truck/order picker) to move products and materials
• Load and unload trucks, trailers, and containers efficiently and accurately
• Transport inventory to designated storage locations within the warehouse
• Pick, stage, and prepare orders for shipment according to company procedures
• Perform daily equipment inspections and report any maintenance issues
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with cycle counts when needed
• Follow all OSHA safety guidelines and company safety procedures
• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Collaborate with warehouse team members and supervisors to meet productivity goals
• Use RF scanners or warehouse management systems (if applicable) to track inventory movements

Requirements

• Prior experience operating a stand-up forklift (reach truck/order picker) preferred
• Valid forklift certification or ability to obtain certification upon hire
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods
• Basic understanding of warehouse operations and safety procedures
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environments
• Familiarity with warehouse management systems (WMS)
• Experience using RF scanners for inventory tracking
• Previous OSHA safety training

Work Environment

• Warehouse setting with moderate to high activity levels
• May include exposure to varying temperatures depending on facility
• Requires frequent standing, lifting, bending, and operating equipment
