AR/Collections Specialist | Allentown, PA | 4 Days Onsite / 1 Day Remote | Pay: $30–$35/hr | Salary: Up to $75,000

 

About the role

A growing fire safety services company is looking for an AR/Collections Specialist to own the collections function end-to-end. This is a solo role reporting directly to the CFO and Accounting Manager - the right person will bring structure, consistency, and proactive follow-through to a high-volume AR environment that needs attention.

 

What you'll actually do

  • Manage assigned AR balances and follow up on overdue invoices via phone and email
  • Review aging reports and prioritize collection activity
  • Maintain detailed notes, follow-up history, and account status in the system
  • Handle customer questions, disputes, and payment commitment
  • Coordinate with billing, operations, service, and finance teams as needed
  • Support AR reporting and weekly/monthly review meeting
  • Escalate aged or high-risk accounts when appropriate
  • Improve collections processes, tracking discipline, and overall AR visibility

 

What we're looking for

  • 3+ years of AR/collections experience
  • Comfortable making collection calls and owning follow-up through resolutions
  • Experience with payment posting, account reconciliations, and aging reports
  • Strong ownership mindset - proactive, organized, and persistent
  • Excel proficiency (pivot tables and VLOOKUPs preferred)
  • Background in service, construction, contracting, or field-service billing a plus
  • Must be comfortable working onsite 4 days per week

 

Environment

Fast-growing, acquisition-driven company in the middle of building out its finance team and systems - including a transition from QuickBooks to SAP next month. The manager is trust-based with an open communication style and is looking for someone who can grow with the company long-term. Collections team of one, so expect full ownership from day one.

 

Additional details

  • Schedule: Mon-Fri, 9am–5pm (flexible open to 8:30am-4:30pm) | 40-hour work week
  • Engagement: Looking for someone long term
  • Systems: Excel, QuickBooks (transitioning to SAP)
  • Interview process: 1 in person meeting with VP, CFO, and Accounting Manager → Offer
