Equipment Maintenance Technician I
About the Opportunity: A manufacturing organization in Memphis, TN is hiring an Equipment Maintenance Technician I for a short-term onsite contract supporting production tooling, equipment readiness, and maintenance operations. This role is ideal for an early-career technician with hands-on mechanical, electrical, tooling, or manufacturing equipment experience who can help keep production workcells running efficiently.
What You Will Do:
- Perform preventive maintenance on tooling and manufacturing equipment to support uptime and production flow.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, adjust, repair, and reassemble electro-mechanical equipment used in production.
- Maintain and repair feeders, tooling systems, and related production components.
- Use blueprints, schematics, layouts, technical manuals, and diagnostic equipment to complete maintenance work.
- Support Tool Crib operations, including tooling, spare parts, consumables, repair tracking, calibration status, and inventory records.
- Track maintenance documentation, equipment records, reports, requisitions, purchase orders, and related administrative items.
- Work cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Industrial Engineering teams.
- Train operators and technicians on proper tooling and equipment use, handling, and maintenance.
- Identify equipment or tooling inefficiencies and support corrective actions or continuous improvement efforts.
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on technical aptitude with mechanical, electrical, tooling, manufacturing, or equipment maintenance exposure.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve electro-mechanical equipment issues.
- Ability to use hand tools, precision measurement tools, and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to read and follow technical documentation such as blueprints, schematics, work instructions, manuals, or layouts.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate maintenance, inventory, and equipment records.
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office or similar systems.
- Ability to work onsite in Memphis, TN on the required first-shift schedule.
- Work authorization must be confirmed by recruiter during the screening process.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree in Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or a related field.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in a manufacturing, tooling, maintenance, or electro-mechanical environment.
- Prior experience as a Manufacturing Assistant, Maintenance Technician, Equipment Technician, Tooling Technician, Process Technician, or similar technical production-support role.
- Experience with Tool Crib, MRO inventory, spare parts tracking, or maintenance stockroom support.
- Experience with maintenance tracking systems, ERP, MES, CMMS, or similar platforms.
- Exposure to downtime tracking, preventive maintenance reporting, purchasing support, or process improvement.
Compensation and Work Model:
- Pay: $25 to $30/hr
- Location: Onsite in Memphis, TN
- Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM
- Assignment length: Contract through 08/31/2026
- Start date: 07/13/2026
- Extension: Possible if performance and business need support it, but not guaranteed
- Overtime: May be required based on production demands
