Electronics Diagnostic Technician
Position Summary
The Electronics Diagnostic Technician is responsible for performing in-circuit verification testing, troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electronic circuit board assemblies down to the component level. This role works closely with manufacturing and test engineering teams to identify defects, improve diagnostic processes, and ensure high-quality production standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair electronic circuit board assemblies, including opens, shorts, and boundary scan failures at the component level.
- Perform in-circuit verification testing and utilize electronic test and measurement equipment effectively.
- Read and interpret schematics, bills of materials (BOMs), assembly visuals, test procedures, and diagnostic documentation.
- Assist the Test Engineering team with data collection and analysis to improve troubleshooting efficiency and process yields.
- Troubleshoot and resolve electronic assembly issues while maintaining production quality standards.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, quality requirements, and security protocols.
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment and comply with all safety regulations.
- Collaborate with team members to achieve departmental productivity and yield goals.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Skills & Experience
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing electronic circuit boards to the component level.
- Proficiency using electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics and technical documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of statistical concepts and data analysis.
- Comfortable working in a manufacturing or electronics production environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Windows-based computer systems and related software.
Knowledge & Abilities
- Ability to perform mathematical calculations involving fractions, percentages, ratios, decimals, and basic geometry concepts.
- Ability to analyze data, identify root causes, and draw valid conclusions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to follow detailed instructions and procedures with a high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in electronics manufacturing, diagnostics, or repair.
- Experience working with boundary scan testing and automated test equipment.
- Familiarity with ERP or manufacturing software systems.
- IPC certification is a plus.
Work Environment
This position is based in a manufacturing environment and requires hands-on troubleshooting and repair of electronic assemblies while adhering to all safety and quality standards.
