Junior Accountant (Temp-to-Hire)

Location: Midtown Manhattan, NY (Hybrid – 2 days onsite / 3 days remote)
Pay: $25–30/hour
Conversion Salary: $55,000–$60,000 annually
Schedule: Monday–Friday | 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (35-hour work week)

A well-established non-profit organization is seeking a Junior Accountant to join its collaborative General Ledger team on a temp-to-hire basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to build their career in a supportive environment with structured training, mentorship, and long-term growth potential.

What You'll Do

• Support the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close process
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
• Analyze balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Assist with monthly financial statements, forecasts, and ad hoc reporting
• Prepare bank reconciliations and maintain accurate financial records
• Support annual audits and budget preparation
• Maintain the general ledger and ensure financial data accuracy
• Partner with internal teams to meet reporting deadlines

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
• 2–3+ years of General Ledger accounting experience
• Strong experience with journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close
• Intermediate Excel skills (Pivot Tables required; VLOOKUPs preferred)
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and meet deadlines
• Strong communication skills with a proactive, team-oriented mindset
• Experience with Yardi or Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a plus
• Non-profit experience is a plus
