Our client, a highly regarded investment management firm, is seeking an experienced Senior Fund Accountant to join its finance team. This individual will play a key role in the accounting, financial reporting, and operational oversight of a portfolio of hedge funds and managed accounts.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the accounting records for assigned hedge funds and managed accounts, including reviewing the work of junior accountants and outsourced accounting resources.
- Perform and review daily reconciliations between internal trading systems and the portfolio accounting system (Advent Geneva), investigating and resolving discrepancies.
- Review NAV packages prepared by third-party fund administrators, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of accounting or valuation issues.
- Analyze profit and loss activity, balance sheet accounts, and key NAV drivers to support accurate financial reporting.
- Coordinate with investment teams, operations, fund administrators, and external auditors on accounting, valuation, and reporting matters.
- Review valuation methodologies and pricing sources across a variety of investment products, including derivatives.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reconciliations, controls, and reporting efficiencies.
- Support management initiatives and contribute to the training and development of junior accounting staff.
- Prepare ad hoc financial analysis, reporting, and special projects as required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Experience in hedge fund accounting, alternative investment accounting, or public accounting with exposure to investment funds.
- Strong working knowledge of Advent Geneva.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience working with third-party fund administrators and complex hedge fund structures.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Experience with SQL, Power BI, or other reporting and data visualization tools.
- Strong understanding of hedge fund structures, NAV calculations, and investment valuation methodologies.
- Experience accounting for exchange-traded securities, fixed income products, and derivative instruments.
