About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing real estate investment and property management company in Miami, is seeking a Staff Accountant with Yardi experience to join its Accounting team. This role is ideal for an accounting professional with experience supporting commercial, multifamily, or mixed-use real estate portfolios. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing monthly financial statements, performing account reconciliations, and supporting month-end close for multiple properties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and maintain the general ledger for an assigned portfolio of properties.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and supporting schedules.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, balance sheet accounts, tenant security deposits, and intercompany transactions.
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable activity to ensure proper coding and accuracy.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly budget-to-actual variances and assist with financial reporting packages.
  • Maintain accurate tenant ledgers, CAM reconciliations, and rent roll reporting.
  • Record accruals, prepaid expenses, depreciation, and other recurring journal entries.
  • Assist with annual budgets, audits, and tax support schedules.
  • Support acquisitions, dispositions, and property transitions as needed.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
  • Work closely with Property Managers, Asset Managers, and other internal departments to resolve accounting issues.
  • Assist with process improvements and special accounting projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–5 years of accounting experience within property management or real estate.
  • Hands-on experience with Yardi Voyager is required.
  • Strong understanding of general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close.
  • Experience preparing financial statements for multiple properties or entities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial reporting.
  • Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple properties and meet monthly reporting deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial, multifamily, retail, office, or mixed-use real estate portfolios.
  • Knowledge of CAM reconciliations, tenant billings, lease accounting, and property operating expenses.
  • CPA candidate or pursuing CPA certification is a plus.
  • Experience with MRI, RealPage, or other property management systems is a plus.
