This is not a general logistics management position. Qualified candidates must have direct heavy haul operations experience and demonstrated leadership within a heavy haul environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the daily activities of the heavy haul operations team, including workload distribution, schedule coverage, productivity, accuracy, and service priorities.
- Set performance expectations and develop employees through training, coaching, feedback, and mentorship.
- Manage routine personnel responsibilities, including time-off requests, schedule coverage, and timecard approval.
- Provide operational oversight for oversized and overweight transportation projects involving specialized equipment, routing, permitting, and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in RFQ and project-pricing reviews to assess feasibility, resource requirements, operational risks, and cost-effectiveness.
- Identify and address service issues, operational risks, and process bottlenecks.
- Coordinate with sales, billing, customers, and supporting teams to maintain communication, meet service expectations, and support timely billing.
- Prioritize time-sensitive matters and lead practical problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
- Improve SOPs, workflows, systems, documentation practices, and quality controls.
- Maintain accurate operational records and support regulatory, reporting, and audit-readiness requirements.
- Promote a professional, accountable, ethical, and customer-focused team culture.
Required Qualifications:
- Five or more years of direct heavy haul transportation experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience within a heavy haul operation.
- Strong knowledge of oversized and overweight transportation, including specialized equipment, routing, permitting, and DOT requirements.
- Experience coordinating complex transportation projects and balancing competing operational priorities.
- Ability to assess project feasibility, identify risk, and provide operational input on RFQs and pricing.
- Strong communication, coaching, conflict-resolution, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to work on-site in Jacksonville and provide schedule flexibility when business needs require it.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
- PMP, Six Sigma, Lean, or a comparable project-management or process-improvement credential.
- Prior CDL-A driving experience.
- Experience implementing operational workflows, SOPs, systems, or quality-control improvements.
This position offers an experienced heavy haul professional the opportunity to directly influence team performance, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and the continued growth of a specialized transportation operation.
