Accounting Specialist

Location: Miramar, FL
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–5:00 PM | Fully Onsite

We are seeking an experienced Accounting Specialist to join a fast-paced laboratory organization serving the cannabis and hemp industry. This position reports directly to the Director of Finance and is ideal for a proactive accounting professional with hands-on experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, reconciliations, journal entries, and month-end close.

Responsibilities:

• Process and apply customer payments accurately and promptly.
• Reconcile accounts receivable and ensure cash transactions are properly recorded.
• Research and resolve payment discrepancies.
• Prepare cash application and outstanding receivables reports.
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Assist with month-end close and financial reporting.
• Handle intercompany transactions and reconciliations.
• Provide financial documentation for audits.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and efficiency.
• Collaborate with the accounting team to ensure accurate financial reporting.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of accounting experience.
• Cash applications and accounts receivable experience required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Sage experience preferred; Sage X3 is a strong plus.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management abilities.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Must be comfortable working fully onsite in a cannabis-testing laboratory environment, where the smell of cannabis may be present.
• Must be able to pass a Level 2 background check.
• Immediate availability is strongly preferred.
