About the Opportunity
Ascendo is hiring Equipment Maintenance Technician II contractors to support a large, 24/7 manufacturing operation in Hanover Park, Illinois.
This is a hands-on maintenance role for technicians who know how to troubleshoot, repair, rebuild, calibrate, and maintain electro-mechanical production equipment. You will work directly with manufacturing machinery, diagnose equipment failures, perform preventive maintenance, and help keep production equipment operating reliably.
This is a one-year contract position employed through Ascendo, with access to Ascendo contractor benefits for eligible employees.
What You Will Do
- Troubleshoot and diagnose problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical manufacturing equipment, including failures detectable at the I/O level.
- Repair, adjust, dismantle, assemble, and rebuild production equipment.
- Use blueprints, layouts, schematics, operating manuals, repair manuals, sketches, and technical drawings to perform maintenance and repairs.
- Use test and diagnostic equipment to identify equipment failures and verify proper operation.
- Perform equipment calibration using general and special-purpose test equipment.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance and document maintenance activity in the applicable maintenance tracking system.
- Assist with the movement, installation, and setup of manufacturing equipment.
- Support machine operators and maintenance personnel with equipment-maintenance activities and technical guidance.
- Assist with identifying or sourcing equipment parts when needed.
- Follow applicable safety, security, maintenance, and operating procedures.
- Support overtime or on-call needs when required.
What You Bring
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience maintaining electro-mechanical equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing manufacturing or production equipment.
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment failures at the I/O level, including relevant inputs, outputs, sensors, actuators, controls, or comparable machine components.
- Experience using diagnostic, test, measurement, or calibration equipment.
- Experience performing preventive maintenance on production equipment.
- Ability to read and work from blueprints, schematics, technical drawings, layouts, and equipment manuals.
- Ability to safely use basic and specialized hand tools.
- Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English, including communication with technical support resources.
Preferred Background
- Associate degree in electronics, industrial maintenance, mechatronics, electrical/electronic technology, or a related technical discipline.
- Equivalent technical education, training, apprenticeship, or directly relevant experience is also considered.
- Experience with CMMS, maintenance tracking, or work-order systems.
- Experience repairing or rebuilding automated manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with equipment installation, relocation, or commissioning.
- Experience training or supporting machine operators in equipment-maintenance activities.
- Familiarity with electronic component markings, industrial safety practices, and basic Windows/Office applications.
- Forklift certification is a plus, but is not required.
Schedule
This is a 24/7 manufacturing operation using four crews on a bi-weekly 2-2-3 Pitman schedule:
- 2 days on
- 2 days off
- 3 days on
- 2 days off
- 2 days on
- 3 days off
The three-day work periods fall on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Shifts are approximately 12 hours, with 11.75 working hours per shift.
The specific day or night crew assignment will be discussed during the hiring process. Candidates may communicate their AM/PM preference, but a specific shift should not be considered guaranteed.
Initial training is Monday through Friday, 6:45 AM-3:15 PM.
Compensation and Benefits
Pay: $22.00-$41.00 per hour
