Sr. HR Generalist – Temp-to-Perm

Location: Long Island City, NY | 100% Onsite
Schedule: Mon–Fri, 35 hrs/week | 9am–5pm or 10am–6pm
Duration: 3+ months, potential temp-to-perm
Pay: $35–$45/hr
Start: Immediate — next week

Our client, a mission-driven nonprofit organization, is seeking a Sr. HR Generalist to provide immediate HR support in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day HR operations and employee relations.
• Handle employee issues, investigations, and documentation.
• Support onboarding/offboarding and benefits administration.
• Assist with payroll and verify hours through Paychex HCM.
• Lead full-cycle, high-volume recruiting for 11–13 open roles plus internships.
• Source candidates through job fairs, colleges, networking, and community outreach.
• Maintain HR records and reporting.
• Partner with the Sr. Director of Operations & Compliance.

Requirements

• 3+ years of HR Generalist experience
• Strong employee relations and high-volume recruiting experience.
• Payroll, benefits, onboarding/offboarding experience.
• Paychex HCM strongly preferred.
• Organized, tech-savvy, and strong with documentation.
• Comfortable working independently in a demanding, high-turnover environment.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
