Job Title: Paralegal - Consumer Unit

Location: Downtown Jacksonville Office

Type: Full-Time

Work Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Job Overview: We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Paralegal to join our Consumer Advocacy and Litigation Unit. The successful candidate will provide essential litigation support to the attorneys in the unit and play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient operation of legal proceedings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide litigation support to the attorneys in the unit.
  • Schedule hearings and client appointments.
  • Prepare trial notebooks for legal proceedings.
  • Manage the log of applications presented to and handled in the unit.
  • Prepare and send letters to clients.
  • Complete accounting requests for attorneys.
  • Collect and distribute mail in a timely manner.
  • Manage calendars for various attorneys.
  • Prepare files and applications for records to open and close.
  • Draft notices, discovery, motions, and pleadings.
  • Utilize the Court Call program when applicable.
  • Provide grant management support, including tracking applications and data entry.
  • Use telephonic interpreter services and schedule sign language interpreters.
  • Utilize JACS to schedule hearings.
  • Maintain files for attorneys.
  • Keep detailed and contemporaneous time records.

Preferred Education/Skills/Experience:

    • Completion of a training program to become a paralegal or legal paraprofessional; or a degree or certificate in legal technology, legal administration, or legal studies; or a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in legal services; or a minimum of four years of experience in legal secretarial work.
    • Minimum of two years of civil law office experience required.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft and Google applications.
    • Enjoy working in a fast-paced environment.
    • Detail-oriented, able to work well with others, and capable of prioritizing and managing work from several work producers.
