Our esteemed client is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Commercial Credit Analyst in the Bergen County, NJ area to conduct comprehensive credit investigations and financial analyses for commercial lending. This role is responsible for preparing in-depth credit memoranda, supporting lending decisions, performing annual reviews of existing loans, and providing mentorship to junior analysts. The position also offers key support to loan officers and participates in special projects as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Credit Analysis & Development

Analyze complex credit data and financial statements to assess the creditworthiness of commercial clients for new, renewed, or extended loan requests.

Prepare detailed credit memoranda with recommendations for lending officers and credit committees.

Perform global and stand-alone debt service calculations using financial spreading software to evaluate borrower and guarantor repayment capacity.

Investigate and verify all relevant credit sources, including third-party agency reports.

Ensure proposed loans meet Ascendo’s internal policies, regulatory standards, and compliance guidelines.

Monitor and validate adherence to all loan covenants and conditions.
Annual File Reviews

Conduct annual reviews of existing commercial loan files.

Perform financial and cash flow analysis, stress testing, and industry trend evaluation to identify risks.

Recommend and justify changes in risk ratings as appropriate.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field required.

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of commercial credit analysis experience, preferably within a banking or financial services environment.

Knowledge & Skills:

Strong understanding of commercial loan structures, underwriting standards, and regulatory guidelines.

Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, financial statement analysis, and risk assessment.

Proficiency in credit analysis software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Exceptional analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.

Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently.
