Job Summary:
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Project Accountant to join our finance team in Miami. This position will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of multiple ongoing projects, ensuring accurate budgeting, billing, reporting, and compliance. The ideal candidate will work closely with project managers, vendors, and leadership to track project costs, manage contracts, and ensure financial integrity throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:

Monitor project budgets, cost tracking, and forecasting to ensure financial accuracy and project profitability.

Review contracts and change orders to ensure proper setup and billing.

Prepare and process client invoices in accordance with contract terms and project milestones.

Perform monthly project reconciliations and provide variance analysis.

Assist with month-end close related to project activity, including journal entries and accruals.

Maintain detailed project financial records and documentation for audits and reporting.

Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure timely billing and issue resolution.

Manage subcontractor payments, lien releases, and compliance documentation.

Support internal and external audits as needed with documentation and analysis.
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

2–5 years of accounting experience, with at least 1 year in project or job cost accounting.

Experience in construction, engineering, architecture, or similar project-based industry is a plus.
Technical Skills:
-
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).

Experience with project accounting or ERP systems (e.g., Sage, JD Edwards, NetSuite, Procore, Viewpoint).

Familiarity with GAAP and revenue recognition principles.
Soft Skills:

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
