Ascendo Resources is actively seeking a Senior Grants Accountant for an immediate, full-time, onsite position in New York, NY 10020.
 
Our client, a reputable non-profit organization, is looking for a skilled professional with a strong background in grants accounting.
 
The Senior Grants Accountant will be responsible for overseeing the financial administration of grants and ensuring compliance with funding requirements.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am-5:00pm (35 hour work week)

Salary: $70,000 - $80,000/year

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage full-cycle general ledger accounting, including cash bookings, accruals, and journal entries
  • Perform reconciliations of balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare and post revenue entries; ensure proper classification between admin and program-related revenue
  • Support grants management, including:
  • Preparing/overseeing grant billings
  • Ensuring compliance with contract terms
  • Reviewing spend vs. budget
  • Resolving discrepancies and recognizing revenue appropriately
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close
  • Contribute to year-end audit preparations and respond to audit requests

  • Strong reconciliation skills
  • Proven non-profit and grant management experience
  • Ability to manage closing independently and work with minimal supervision

Requirements:

  • Non-profit accounting experience is a must
  • Strong general accounting fundamentals
  • Grant billing and compliance experience
  • Comfortable preparing entries and discussing accounting at a technical level
  • Experience with year-end audits and working in a structured accounting environment
