The Shipping & Receiving Technician is responsible for supporting the efficient flow of incoming and outgoing materials. This role assists with initial identification and damage verification of all inbound and outbound shipments, processes related documentation, and ensures accurate packaging and handling of goods. Additionally, the technician helps maintain inventory levels for shipping and receiving supplies and supports general warehouse operations as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the initial verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, including identification, condition assessment, and documentation of any visible damage or discrepancies.

  • Process shipping and receiving paperwork accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring compliance with internal procedures and customer/vendor requirements.

  • Package materials for shipment using appropriate packing methods and materials to prevent damage during transit.

  • Label shipments according to carrier and company requirements.

  • Prepare and schedule shipments with carriers as instructed.

  • Support the tracking and updating of inventory records related to shipping and receiving activities.

  • Maintain stock of shipping and receiving supplies; notify appropriate personnel when replenishment is needed.

  • Operate material handling equipment (such as pallet jacks or forklifts) as required and in compliance with safety regulations.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the shipping/receiving area.

  • Assist with cycle counts, audits, and other inventory control activities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional technical or vocational training is a plus.

  • Previous experience in a warehouse, logistics, or manufacturing environment preferred.

  • Familiarity with basic shipping and receiving procedures and documentation.

  • Ability to read and interpret shipping documents, packing lists, and product labels.

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

  • Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation (experience with ERP or warehouse systems is a plus).

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

  • Forklift certification (or willingness to obtain) is preferred.
