Our esteemed client in Middlesex County, NJ is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Accounting Assistant with a strong emphasis on Accounts Receivable to join their growing team. This role is integral to ensuring accurate billing, efficient collections, and seamless financial operations. The ideal candidate will be proactive, organized, and eager to contribute to a fast-paced and collaborative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, post, verify, and record customer payments and AR transactions.
  • Create accurate invoices in line with company policies and submit them to clients.
  • Perform cash management activities including deposits, posting entries, and bank reconciliations.
  • Draft and send correspondence for past-due accounts; identify and follow up on delinquent accounts.
  • Generate reports on the current status of receivables and collections.
  • Research and resolve customer discrepancies and payment variances in coordination with the CFO and colleagues.
  • Assist with preparing monthly billing statements and AR schedules based on the general ledger.
  • Maintain accurate records by filing, copying, and retrieving AR-related documentation.
  • Communicate changes and updates effectively to the finance team.
  • Support additional accounting functions and special projects as assigned.

 

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; or at least 2 years of relevant AR/accounting experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general accounting software.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all levels of an organization.
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed.
