As they continue to grow, they are looking for a motivated Hybrid Inventory Accountant with retail industry experience to join their ranks and help drive their success.


We are currently on the search for a professional and reliable Inventory Accountant:

  • Prepares monthly journal entries and reconciliations related to inventory, cost of goods sold, and reserves.

  • Monitors and analyzes inventory transactions to ensure accuracy across multiple retail locations, warehouses, and distribution centers.

  • Reviews store-level and warehouse inventory counts, investigates discrepancies, and works with Retail Operations and Supply Chain teams to resolve variances.

  • Ensures proper costing of inventory items, including overhead allocations, landed costs, markdowns, and shrinkage.

  • Maintains and reconciles perpetual inventory sub-ledgers with the general ledger.

  • Reviews purchase price variances and collaborates with Procurement and Merchandising on corrective actions.

  • Prepares reports on inventory valuation, obsolescence, turnover, and sell-through metrics for management review.

  • Supports month-end and year-end close processes, including retail audit schedules and supporting documentation.

  • Develops and maintains spreadsheets, schedules, and reports to track inventory activity and support retail sales/margin analysis.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.


REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong knowledge of inventory accounting and retail cost accounting principles.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, manage time, work efficiently, and meet deadlines.

  • Must be well organized and detail-oriented.

  • NetSuite or large ERP Experience required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to ask pertinent questions and provide analytical insight.

  • High level of respect and discretion for confidential information.

  • Positive attitude and team player.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic retail environment.

  • Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Accounting degree or relevant work experience.

  • 2 to 3+ years of inventory accounting or cost accounting experience in the retail industry (preferred).
