Our esteemed client is seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Quality Control Manager – Audit & Accounting to lead the firm’s quality control initiatives across their audit practice. This role is responsible for ensuring compliance with professional standards, overseeing internal audit policies and procedures, managing peer review processes, and delivering technical guidance to our engagement teams. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker and effective communicator with a strong background in public accounting and audit quality oversight.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary point of contact during the firm’s peer review process
- Ensure timely completion of annual registrations with AICPA quality centers and other applicable governing bodies
- Provide technical accounting and auditing guidance to engagement teams, including presenting on current issues and industry developments
- Evaluate and update the firm’s accounting and auditing policies, procedures, and quality control documents
- Review and approve key engagement documentation, including:
- Planning memos
- Engagement letters
- Risk assessments
- Attorney letters
- Government communications
- Establish and maintain guidelines for acceptance and continuation of attest engagements
- Provide concurring reviews and consult with engagement leaders on complex client issues, including those involving litigation risk
- Oversee the periodic review of Accounting Services’ compliance with compilation and preparation standards
- Maintain an open-door policy to support team members with technical and audit-related concerns
- Monitor and disseminate daily AICPA technical updates to appropriate internal stakeholders
- Stay current with developments from the AICPA, CAQ, GAQC, EBPAQC, and other relevant bodies
- Review and provide guidance on proposed and passed adjusting journal entries
- Lead the annual independence verification process for all professional staff
- Attend the AICPA NAAATS Conference and/or other technical conferences to maintain top-tier technical knowledge
- Oversee engagement scheduling for the audit department
- Develop and lead internal training and continuing education programs for audit and accounting staff
Qualifications:
Education & Credentials:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree preferred
- CPA license strongly preferred
Experience:
- Minimum of 2+ years of progressive audit experience in a mid-size to large public accounting firIndustry experience in Manufacturing, Construction, Real Estate, and Not-for-Profit (NFP) sectors
- Familiarity with PCPS, CAQ, CPEA, EBPAQC, GAQC, and broker-dealer audit requirements
- Prior experience in a Quality Control or technical review role is a strong plus
- Experience with participation in professional organizations or committees (e.g., AICPA, State CPA Societies) is desirable
