Position Overview

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Cash Application Specialist to join their accounting/finance team. This individual will be responsible for accurately applying customer payments, reconciling accounts, and supporting the month-end close process. The ideal candidate is organized, deadline-driven, and comfortable working with high-volume transactions in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply customer payments (checks, ACH, wire, credit card, lockbox) to customer accounts in the ERP system.

• Research and resolve unapplied cash, short pays, overpayments, and payment discrepancies.

• Reconcile customer accounts and investigate variances or misapplied payments.

• Communicate with customers, internal AR, collections, and sales teams to obtain remittance details and resolve issues.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all cash applications and adjustments.

• Assist with daily cash posting, balancing, and reporting.

• Support month-end and year-end closing processes related to AR and cash applications.

• Prepare and update documentation, standard operating procedures, and reports as needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2+ years of experience in cash applications, accounts receivable, or related accounting functions.

• Experience working with high-volume transactions in a corporate or shared services environment.

• Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics, etc.).
