Position Summary
The Operations Manager oversees day-to-day field and office operations for a plumbing service company. This role ensures efficient scheduling, high-quality workmanship, customer satisfaction, and compliance with safety and industry standards. The Operations Manager leads technicians, coordinates resources, and works closely with ownership to drive productivity, profitability, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Field Operations Management

Oversee daily dispatching, routing, and scheduling of plumbing technicians.

Ensure technicians follow company procedures, safety protocols, and service standards.

Monitor job progress, troubleshoot field issues, and provide technical or logistics support.

Manage inventory levels, tools, equipment, and vehicle fleet maintenance.
Team Leadership & Development

Supervise, train, and coach plumbing technicians and support staff.

Conduct performance evaluations and manage staffing needs (hiring, onboarding, discipline).

Foster a positive, safety-first culture and promote teamwork and professionalism.
Customer Service & Communication

Ensure timely, professional service delivery and customer satisfaction.

Resolve escalated customer complaints or job issues.

Communicate job status updates to customers and internal stakeholders.
Financial & Operational Reporting

Track job costs, productivity, labor hours, and profitability for service and installation work.

Assist in preparing budgets, operational forecasts, and cost analyses.

Review timesheets, invoices, work orders, and pricing for accuracy.

Identify opportunities to reduce operating costs and improve workflow efficiency.
Process, Quality & Compliance

Implement and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Ensure compliance with plumbing codes, safety regulations, and licensing requirements.

Conduct quality control checks on completed jobs.
Project Coordination

Support planning and execution of residential, commercial, or new-construction plumbing projects.

Coordinate with suppliers, subcontractors, and inspectors.

Ensure all materials and permitting needs are met for scheduled work.
Qualifications
Education & Experience

3–5+ years of operations or management experience in plumbing, HVAC, construction, or related trades.

Plumbing trade experience (licensed or field background) strongly preferred.

Experience with scheduling/dispatch software (e.g., ServiceTitan, Housecall Pro, FieldEdge).
