Job Description 

The General Manager is responsible for overseeing all daily operations of the furniture business, driving sales performance, ensuring exceptional customer experience, and managing teams across sales, warehouse, delivery, and administrative functions. This role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and a deep understanding of furniture retail and/or distribution processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership: Direct and manage daily store or company operations, including sales floor, warehouse, logistics, and customer service teams.

  • Sales & Revenue Growth: Develop and execute sales strategies to meet revenue targets, manage pricing and promotions, and optimize product mix and showroom presentation.

  • Team Management: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise staff across multiple departments; conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing coaching.

  • Customer Experience: Ensure a high standard of customer service, resolve escalated issues, manage service policies, and maintain a customer-focused culture.

  • Inventory Oversight: Oversee inventory management, including ordering, receiving, cycle counts, stock accuracy, and coordination with warehouse and delivery teams.

  • Logistics & Delivery Coordination: Ensure timely and efficient delivery schedules, manage routing, oversee quality control, and resolve delivery-related concerns.

  • Financial Management: Monitor budgets, control expenses, track KPIs, and prepare operational reports for ownership or senior leadership.

  • Vendor & Supplier Relations: Maintain strong relationships with furniture vendors, negotiate pricing, review catalogs/materials, and coordinate product ordering.

  • Showroom Management: Oversee merchandising, floor resets, product displays, and overall showroom appearance to align with brand standards.

  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to company policies, industry regulations, workplace safety standards, and security procedures.

  • Strategic Planning: Identify opportunities for business growth, process improvement, and operational efficiency.

 

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in retail or furniture industry management

  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Knowledge of inventory control, supply chain, and showroom operations

  • Ability to analyze data, manage budgets, and drive performance

  • Customer-centric mindset with a focus on quality and service
