Position Overview
A growing public accounting practice is seeking an experienced Tax Preparer (Senior level) with a minimum of three years of public accounting experience. This role is ideal for a tax professional with strong technical expertise, a client-focused mindset, and the ability to collaborate within a team-based environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and reviewing a wide range of tax returns, supporting tax planning initiatives, and contributing to long-term client relationships. This position offers exposure to diverse clients and industries, along with opportunities for professional growth and advancement.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, LLCs, S-Corporations, and C-Corporations
- Participate in tax planning and advisory engagements for businesses and high-net-worth individuals
- Review engagement work to ensure accuracy, compliance, and adherence to internal quality standards
- Collaborate with senior team members to manage engagement timelines and resolve complex tax matters
- Conduct tax research and analyze technical issues to support filing positions and planning strategies
- Maintain ongoing communication with clients to deliver timely, high-quality service
- Stay informed on current tax regulations, compliance requirements, and legislative changes
- Assist with workflow coordination, billing responsibilities, and engagement documentation
- Provide guidance and support to junior staff as needed
- Build professional relationships through networking and industry involvement
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- Minimum of 3 years of tax experience within a public accounting environment
- Strong background in corporate and individual tax compliance
- Experience with multi-state filings and consolidated returns
- Familiarity with tax planning strategies for closely held businesses and affluent clients
- Ability to manage multiple engagements independently while meeting deadlines
- Strong analytical, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
- CPA license preferred but not required (support for licensure available)
- Prior experience reviewing work or mentoring staff is a plus
