Position Overview

The Mechanical Claims Adjuster plays a critical role in the claims process by evaluating vehicle mechanical failures and determining coverage under service contracts. This position requires hands-on automotive knowledge, strong analytical skills, and excellent communication abilities. The adjuster will work closely with customers, vehicle inspectors, and repair facilities to ensure accurate and fair claim resolution while contributing to a positive customer experience.


Key Responsibilities

  • Review claim information to determine if the customer’s concern, diagnosis, and mechanical failure meet the terms of the service contract.

  • Verify repair costs are consistent with industry standards.

  • Ensure coverage decisions align with the limits and terms of the service contract.

  • Communicate professionally with customers, agents, and repair facilities throughout the claim investigation process.

  • Complete fair and timely settlements of claims.

  • Contribute to team objectives and support department initiatives as needed.

  • Follow established policies and procedures to ensure claims are processed accurately.

  • Participate in special projects, reports, and documentation as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma and at least two years of college, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.

  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on automotive repair and diagnostic experience.

  • 1–2 years of claims processing experience preferred but not required.

  • Current or previous ASE Certification preferred.


Skills & Competencies

  • Familiarity with automotive parts and labor guides.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Windows-based programs.

  • Exceptional customer service and communication skills.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and business correspondence.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to handle complex, non-standard situations.

  • Spanish fluency or bilingual skills are a plus.

  • Ability to adhere to a structured schedule and manage multiple priorities effectively.
