Head of Production — Manufacturing

Industry: Manufacturing (High-Volume Print & Poster Production)

Location: Louisville, Kentucky

About the Role

As we launch our new high-volume poster manufacturing facility in Louisville, we are seeking an experienced Head of Production to lead production operations and ensure that orders are fulfilled accurately, efficiently, and on schedule. This role sits at the critical intersection of production, operations, and logistics — especially important in our highly seasonal business where peak periods (e.g., Black Friday and the winter holiday season) can dramatically increase volume.

This leader will be responsible for building scalable production processes, optimizing throughput, managing cross-functional teams, and working closely with logistics to meet customer delivery expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all aspects of day-to-day production activities in the poster manufacturing facility.
  • Develop production plans, schedules, and workflows that align with seasonal demand fluctuations.
  • Coordinate closely with logistics and supply chain teams to synchronize production output with shipping and fulfillment timelines.
  • Set performance targets (quality, throughput, cost, safety) and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) across production lines.
  • Drive continuous improvement efforts, including process standardization, waste reduction, and efficiency initiatives.
  • Recruit, train, and mentor production supervisors and frontline operators.
  • Implement and enforce safety and quality standards in compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Partner with maintenance and engineering teams to ensure optimal uptime and equipment reliability.
  • Forecast staffing needs and adjust operational plans during peak seasons.

Required Qualifications

  • Proven production management experience in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Strong skills in operational planning, workflow optimization, and team leadership.
  • Experience managing seasonal production peaks or comparable fluctuations.
  • Excellent communication and cross-department collaboration abilities.
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to analyze production data and drive data-informed decisions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in print manufacturing, e-commerce fulfillment, or related hardware-driven production operations.
  • Prior work with Amazon-like fulfillment environments or integration with high-volume sales channels.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, etc.).
