Grants Manager (Temp-to-Perm)

Location: Fully Remote (One in-person day/month in Midtown Manhattan, NYC)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM (35 hrs/week)

Pay Rate: $40/hour (Temp to Perm)

Conversion Salary: Up to $80,000 annually

Start Timeline: After background check and 2-week onboarding

Interview Process: One video interview + Excel assessment

Reason for Opening: Department growth - at least 3 roles being added

About the Organization:

This well-established social services nonprofit supports underserved populations across New York City through housing, behavioral health, and workforce development programs. The Grants Department is expanding to meet growing funding and programmatic demands. The culture is collaborative, respectful, and mission-driven.

Position Overview:

The Grants Manager will report to the Director of Grants Administration and/or Senior Finance and Grants Analyst and manage a portfolio of 10+ publicly funded programs (City: $50M+, Federal: $5M+). This role is responsible for overseeing the full grant lifecycle, including budget creation, modifications, compliance, monthly claims, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

Grants Administration & Budgeting

  • Prepare and submit monthly, quarterly, and annual claims and budgets through funder portals (e.g., HHS Accelerator, eCompass, PMS, Grants Gateway)
  • Ensure compliance with City, State, and Federal funder requirements (e.g., DOHMH, DHS, HUD)
  • Manage contract renewals, modifications, and performance tracking
  • Maintain program P&L and grant-related balance sheet accounts 
  • Monitor accounts receivable, cash management, and accurate funder documentation
  • Support audits and maintain clean records across all grants

     

Reporting & Analysis

  • Analyze YTD financial performance, prepare revenue/expense projections
  • Deliver timely reports and financial summaries for internal leadership
  • Provide analysis and commentary to department leads and finance executives

     

Other Duties

  • Participate in ERP system upgrades and testing (experience with PASSport or Microsoft Dynamics NAV is a plus)
  • Attend weekly/daily virtual check-ins (Microsoft Teams) 
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications - Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing government grants (City, State, Federal)
  • Strong knowledge of OMB regulations and public sector funding processes
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, vlookups, sumifs, macros)
  • Experience with ERP systems
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret and present financial data to both financial and non-financial stakeholders

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years in nonprofit or social services grant administration 
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar systems
  • Experience with budgeting/planning applications
