Ascendo Resources is actively seeking an Accountant with GASB government accounting experience for an immediate hybrid, full-time, permanent opportunity with one of our mission-driven public sector clients. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on accounting professional who’s looking to grow within a forward-thinking team focused on finance transformation and innovation.

Hours: Mon-Fri, 9am - 530pm

Hybrid Work Schedule: 2 days onsite and 3 days WFH

Salary: $80,000/year

 Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and analyze financial records for grants and special revenue funds, ensuring compliance with fund accounting rules
• Perform complex reconciliations for general ledger, subsidiary ledgers, and bank statements
• Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP and GASB
• Assist with the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) and other external reporting
• Prepare and post journal entries including accruals, deferrals, and reclassifications
• Support external audits with schedules and documentation
• Monitor and assess the impact of upcoming GASB pronouncements

 Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience
• Direct experience in government/public sector accounting strongly preferred
• Demonstrated proficiency with GASB standards and GAAP
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Tyler Munis, Oracle, etc.)
