A leading electrical manufacturing company in Hamden, CT is seeking a Senior Accountant for a hybrid, 4 days on-site role. The ideal candidate will have 4+ years of accounting experience within the manufacturing industry and a strong background in managing the month-end close process.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 4+ years of accounting experience in the manufacturing industry
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions and data analysis tools
  • CPA or public accounting background preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Handle daily operational accounting functions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all transactions
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate bills of material, labor rates, and overhead burden rates within the ERP system
  • Support the creation and ongoing management of the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process
  • Oversee month-end close in coordination with business units, including preparing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and performance analyses
  • Contribute to revenue recognition processes in compliance with ASC 606
  • Verify the accuracy of financial statements and underlying data
  • Analyze and document fluctuations in balance sheet and income statement accounts, explaining variances as needed
  • Provide financial insights to management, highlighting potential risks and exposures
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Review inventory for obsolete or excess stock and prepare appropriate reserves for excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory
  • Prepare audit schedules for the annual audit and liaise with the Global Controller and external auditors
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes to enhance efficiency in accounting workflows
  • Complete thorough bank reconciliations to ensure the integrity of financial records
  • Use advanced accounting techniques to interpret financial data and support decision-making
  • Perform detailed balance sheet reconciliations to confirm accuracy of general ledger entries
  • Monitor bank activity and record cash receipts accurately in Epicor
  • Work with the Controller to develop and maintain a timely, accurate weekly cash flow forecast
  • Assist in reconciling intercompany accounts to ensure proper financial reporting
