Structural Steel Detailer – SDS/2

We are seeking an experienced SDS/2 Structural Steel Detailer to assist in the preparation of shop and field drawings for structural steel and miscellaneous metals projects. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with project managers, shop and field personnel, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy and efficiency throughout the detailing process.

Responsibilities:

• Review structural and architectural drawings, specifications, and related documents for conflicts or questions.

• Work with project management to create and submit RFIs.

• Ensure drawings are accurate by checking contract documents, RFIs, specifications, and addendums.

• Stay current with SDS/2 software updates and best practices.

• Adhere to applicable codes and established design standards.

• Revise and update drawings based on engineering or architect feedback, field conditions, bulletins, and contract change orders.

• Provide guidance and clarification to shop and field teams as needed.

• Export CNC and KISS files for purchasing and construction.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in structural steel detailing using SDS/2.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, AWS welding symbols, and related technical drawings.

• Strong organizational skills and commitment to producing accurate, detailed work.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills with a team-oriented mindset.
