Job Overview: Our company is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Audit Clerk to support our audit team. The Audit Clerk will assist in performing audit tasks for clients in various industries, ensuring compliance with financial reporting standards and regulations. This role involves data entry, reviewing financial documents, assisting in audit procedures, and preparing reports. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of basic accounting principles and a keen eye for detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation and organization of financial documents and statements for audits.
- Review and verify financial transactions and documents for accuracy and compliance with regulations.
- Conduct preliminary analyses of financial records to identify discrepancies or areas of concern.
- Assist with internal control reviews and compliance checks to ensure client operations align with regulatory standards.
- Help audit teams during on-site fieldwork, including documentation collection and data verification.
- Maintain organized audit files, ensuring all relevant documentation is readily available for review.
- Prepare and update audit working papers, spreadsheets, and summaries for management review.
- Assist in reconciling financial data across multiple sources (general ledger, bank statements, invoices, etc.).
- Collaborate with other team members and departments to gather necessary information for audit purposes.
- Assist in the preparation of client audit reports, including identifying significant findings.
- Monitor deadlines and ensure that all audit-related documentation is completed in a timely manner.
- Stay updated on industry trends, accounting standards, and regulatory changes that may affect audit practices.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s degree in Accounting or related field is preferred.
- Prior experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or audit support is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and basic auditing procedures.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel; experience with audit software is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, with excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data securely.
- Willingness to learn and stay current with industry changes and audit methodologies.
