Job Title: Quality Control Manager
The Quality Control Manager is responsible for leading the firm’s quality control function within the audit practice. This role includes oversight of financial statement reviews, engagement inspections, and maintenance of quality control documentation. The manager will also oversee scheduling and play a key role in designing, leading, and delivering internal training and continuing education programs.
Essential Functions:
- Serve as the primary point of contact during the firm’s peer review process.
- Ensure timely completion of annual registration with AICPA quality centers.
- Advise and deliver presentations on technical accounting issues.
- Evaluate and enhance existing accounting and auditing policies and procedures.
- Prepare client education materials on new revenue and leasing standards.
- Review engagement documents such as planning files, engagement letters, risk assessments, and government communications.
- Establish guidelines for acceptance of new attest engagements.
- Consult with engagement leaders on issues requiring concurring opinions or involving threatened litigation.
- Conduct periodic reviews of Accounting Services’ compliance with compilation and preparation documentation.
- Maintain an open-door policy to support team members with technical and audit questions.
- Review and distribute daily postings of technical updates from the AICPA.
- Monitor and evaluate developments reported by AICPA and the Center for Audit Quality related to engagement quality.
- Assess proposed and finalized adjusting journal entries.
- Oversee the annual independence verification process for professional staff.
- Attend AICPA NAAATS or other technical conferences to maintain the firm’s technical expertise.
- Manage all engagement scheduling.
- Develop and oversee internal training and continuing education programs.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree preferred.
- CPA license preferred.
- 2–4 years of progressive audit experience in a mid-size to large public accounting firm.
- Audit and accounting experience in Manufacturing, Construction, Real Estate, and Nonprofit industries.
- Familiarity with PCPS, CAQ, CPEA, EBPAQC, GAQC, and broker-dealer regulations.
- Prior quality control experience a plus.
- Active participation in professional organizations such as the AICPA or CPA Society is highly valued.
