Ascendo Resources is seeking an experienced Family Law Paralegal for a reputable regional law firm client.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of North Carolina family law principles and legal procedures, with the ability to provide exceptional support to our attorneys in a fast-paced environment.

This position involves preparing legal documents, managing case files, conducting research, and assisting clients through various family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child support, and other family law related matters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, prepare, and file legal documents, including divorce petitions, motions, custody agreements, support agreements, and other related legal documents.
  • Assist in client consultations and maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed about case progress.
  • Conduct legal research on family law matters, statutes, and case law.
  • Prepare discovery documents, including interrogatories and requests for production.
  • Assist with the preparation for hearings, trials, and mediations, including organizing evidence and preparing trial binders.
  • Manage case files and documentation, ensuring that all records are up-to-date and properly filed.
  • Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, and other professionals to schedule hearings, depositions, and meetings.
  • Perform administrative duties such as calendar management, filing, and data entry related to family law cases.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism while handling sensitive client information.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Paralegal Studies or related field (Bachelor’s degree preferred).
  • Paralegal certification (e.g., NALA, NFPA) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3+ years of experience working as a paralegal, with a focus on family law.
  • Strong knowledge of family law processes and legal terminology.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools, case management software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with client intake and legal billing processes.
  • Knowledge of local court rules and procedures.
  • Bilingual in [language] is a plus.
