Build Management Engineer

Initial 6-12 Month Contract w/ potential to convert

Job Summary

The Build Management Engineer will be responsible for planning, prototyping, implementing, integrating, and managing service delivery systems that assure performance, reliability, maintainability, schedule adherence, and cost control within the prototyping site. The Build Manager will adopt as its goals a design for manufacturability, profitability, effectiveness, adaptability, responsiveness, quality, and the continuous improvement of products and services throughout their life cycles.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Knowledge in the following areas:

  • Prototyping HLA based on integration of mixed mechanical components and electronics.
  • Ability to Provide manufacturability feedback, recommendations, and improvements to design teams and customers
  • Inventory Management
  • Raw material delivery process, storage, and line feed systems.
  • Product flow and online material handling systems. WIP management, sizing, and buffer storage systems.
  • Process optimization.
  • Fabrication Layout Set Up
  • 6S housekeeping techniques.
  • Develop/Sustain/Improve all assembly processes.
  • Time study analysis.
  • Own and drive yield improvement programs. Provide inputs on Lessons Learned
  • Box build quote and products.
  • Systems support (e.g. SAP, MES, MiniMRP)

Should be able to be SME or support others in one or more of the SME categories like:

  • Work Measurement
  • Review Inspection Reports
  • Systems and Metrics
  • Ergonomics / Workstation and line design
  • Capacity Sizing
  • PFMEA, DFA
  • Fixtures and Tools
  • Simulation
  • Quoting
  • Warehousing / Storage

*May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Key Requirements:

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software.
  • Advanced PC skills and understanding and application of broad range of engineering tools (ie. Work measurement, simulation, process mapping, facilities and workstation design, operations research, etc.)   
  • Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables. ·        
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. ·        
  • Strong financial and analytical ability
  • Proven track record of successful change management accomplishments, implementing and management continuous improvements and cost reduction programs   
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products, Microsoft Visio, and Microsoft Project.
  • Basic understanding of SolidWorks, CREO proficiency is a plus.
  • Windchill / PTC Work Group Manager understanding is a plus.
  • Work with Project Managers in the quoting process.
  • Provide technical input to help identify and solve project risks that may affect overall project plans and schedules.
  • Is expected to support the development and utilization of processes for design.

EXPERIENCE

  • Several years of experience in the medical device, consumer products with experience in design, manufacturing, and clinical applications of medical devices.
  • Experience should include medical risk management, hazard analysis, medical equipment, performance standards and product evaluations. 
  • Experience with developing single use devices such as administration sets is a plus.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. 
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. 
  • Ability to develop mathematical models of physical reality and solve them, then implement the results.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Master's degree in Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university or a bachelor's degree in Engineering from and accredited four-year college or university and equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 8 years of related experience and/or training
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Lead Engineer
  • Specific requirements as defined by the market sector
  • Or equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.
