Medical Assistant – Clinical and Administrative Responsibilities
A Medical Assistant typically supports both clinical and administrative functions in a fast-paced healthcare setting. Responsibilities may include:
Clinical Duties:

Patient Intake: Measure vital signs, height, and weight; gather medical history.

Procedure Support: Assist with procedures such as venipuncture, specimen collection, and room preparation.

Medication Administration: Administer injections or medications under provider supervision.

Wound Care: Provide basic wound care when necessary.

Specimen Collection: Collect urine and blood samples for laboratory testing.

Diagnostic Testing: Conduct screening and diagnostic tests as directed by the provider.
Administrative Duties:

Patient Interaction: Manage patient check-in/check-out, verify insurance, and process payments.

Documentation: Maintain accurate and updated medical records.

Scheduling & Referrals: Schedule appointments, manage procedure prep, and handle prescription and referral processing.

Communication: Answer phone calls and relay messages to clinical staff as needed.

Room Maintenance: Prepare and sanitize exam rooms before and after patient visits
