ob Summary:

The Credit Chargeback Specialist is responsible for managing and resolving credit card disputes and chargebacks in accordance with card network regulations (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, etc.). This role ensures timely and accurate resolution of chargebacks and helps minimize financial losses while providing a high level of customer service and compliance support.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, investigate, and respond to incoming chargeback claims within required timeframes.

  • Analyze supporting documentation and transaction history to determine the validity of disputes.

  • Prepare and submit compelling representments to recover funds when applicable.

  • Monitor and manage open chargeback cases to ensure deadlines and financial targets are met.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (Customer Service, Fraud, Sales, etc.) to gather necessary documentation.

  • Maintain detailed records of all chargeback-related actions and decisions in appropriate systems.

  • Stay up to date with payment industry rules and chargeback regulations (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, etc.).

  • Identify patterns in chargebacks to help improve fraud prevention and transaction processes.

  • Assist with monthly reporting and audits related to chargeback activity.

  • Provide insights and recommendations to reduce chargeback ratios and improve dispute handling processes.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred).

  • Experience: 1–3 years of experience in chargebacks, disputes, fraud investigations, or payment processing.

  • Knowledge of:

    • Card network rules (Visa, Mastercard, AMEX, etc.)

    • Chargeback and fraud codes

    • Payment platforms and dispute management tools (e.g., Ethoca, Verifi, Midigator, etc.)

  • Skills:

    • Strong analytical and investigative skills

    • Excellent written and verbal communication

    • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage deadlines

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and payment software

    • Ability to work independently and in a team environment


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in e-commerce, fintech, or financial services

  • Familiarity with PCI compliance and fraud prevention tools

  • Experience using CRM or ERP systems (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite)


Working Conditions:

  • Standard office hours with potential for extended hours during peak times.

  • May include remote or hybrid work options.
