Ascendo Resources is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant with a strong background in non-profit accounting.

Our client is an established non-profit located in Brooklyn, NY. Salary range is $80,000 to $90,000 a year and offers a hybrid schedule.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general ledger maintenance and account reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely month-end and year-end close processes
• Prepare journal entries and maintain supporting documentation in accordance with GAAP and organizational policies
• Assist with annual audits by preparing schedules, reconciling accounts, and liaising with external auditors
• Oversee grant and contract accounting, including tracking expenditures, preparing funder reports, and ensuring compliance with funding restrictions
• Manage contract billing processes, including preparing and submitting invoices, tracking receivables, and reconciling related accounts
• Support preparation of internal and external financial statements and reports
• Collaborate with program and development teams to ensure proper allocation and tracking of restricted funds
• Contribute to budget development and forecasting, particularly for grant-funded programs

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CPA track a plus)
• 5+ years of accounting experience, including at least 3 years in a nonprofit environment
• Strong understanding of GAAP and nonprofit fund accounting
• Demonstrated experience with grants accounting and contract billing
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MIP Fund Accounting, NetSuite, QuickBooks, etc.) and Excel
• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and organizational abilities
